Andy Warhol
born Andrew Warhola on August 6, 1928
received his first camera at the age of 9
Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) from 1945 to 1949
He worked as a commercial artist/illustrator where he earned many awards.
In 1961 he made his first pop paintings based on comics and ads.
In 1962 he debuted his famous Campbell's Soup Can Series.
He then began working with movie star portraits, such as Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and Elizabeth Taylor.
Between 1963 and 1968 he created hundreds of films.
In 1964 he held his first exhibition of sculptures.
He published many books beginning in the 1950's, however Andy Warhol’s Index (Book), published in 1967 was the most popular.
